Horses For Lease
Here’s your chance to lease one of SNF’s homebred super stars! Bacardi is a 2006 KWPN gelding who was born here at Second Nature Farm. He was sold as a young horse and had incredibly successful careers in both the eventing and dressage worlds, competing through Preliminary in eventing (3’7”) and second level in dressage. He recently rejoined the SNF family and has been nothing but delightful. Bacardi can easily shine in any sport you choose, whether it’s dressage, jumpers, or eventing. He has scored in the 70’s at second level and has all the pieces to continue moving up the levels. He is a bold, powerful jumper and excels in the jumper ring, as well. Bacardi is best suited for at least an intermediate rider as he is quite fancy and well schooled. Don’t miss out on this rock star—snatch him up now since he will definitely go quickly!
Oops a Daisy
Oops a Daisy is a 9-year-old solid black Paint/Percheron mare. She was born right here at SNF as Rosie’s unexpected baby (hence the name!) and has been here ever since. Daisy shares her mother’s unflappable personality—nothing scares this big girl. Daisy is happy to put in a solid training level dressage test, but her true passion lies in jumping. She has an even, rhythmical canter and is super brave to the jumps. Although she’s still fairly young, Daisy has already been there and done that, from hacking out at Fair Hill, to riding on the beach and in the ocean, to jumping cross country, to showing at local hunter and dressage shows. She is a fun, dependable partner for a rider of any age looking to do a little bit of everything!
Only At Macy’s
Only at Macy’s, better known as just Macy, is a barn favorite around SNF. This 18-year old Quarter Horse/Paint cross was originally Melanie’s dressage partner. She has a USDF show record a mile long, with wins up and down the east coast at training and first levels. After her dressage career, Macy dabbled on the local hunter circuit with her next kid. Now, she’s teaching lessons at SNF and is ready for her next person. This quiet, patient mare loves kids and is the very best teacher. She is one of our most dependable flat horses for riders of all ages and skill levels. Macy could easily step back into the dressage world and doesn’t mind jumping around over X-rails. She is a real confidence building horse who loves to teach riders everything from the basics to the finer points of riding.
Rosie is arguably the most perfect horse in the entire world. She is a big-bodied, 16-year-old paint mare and the sweetest, most solid horse in the barn. Her special talent is showing less confident riders just how much fun riding can be. We think Rosie’s only flaw is that her trot is SO comfortable that she’ll spoil you for any other horse! Rosie is completely bombproof and the perfect teacher for a total beginner of any age and size. She has quite the horse show record, as well: from Morven Park to HITS Saugerties to the Devon show grounds to Harrisburg. Rosie is just as sweet and wonderful as they come and is ready to safely teach her next person the ropes of riding.
KC Kat is a 14-year-old chestnut Thoroughbred gelding and one of the most beloved horses in the barn. As a young horse, KC was a racehorse, but you would never guess it now—he prefers to go as slowly as possible! We have yet to find anything that spooks this gentleman; he just takes everything in stride and always tries his very hardest to please. He has been to plenty of local and overnight dressage and hunter horse shows, where he is a competitive training level dressage horse or X-rails to 2’ local hunter. KC’s real forte, though, is boosting the confidence of timid riders, from total beginners to anyone who may be more fearful. You can always count on KC Kat, no matter what the job is.
Rebekka, the queen diva of Second Nature Farm, is a 20-year-old imported KWPN mare. This big, fancy mare showed through third level dressage but made it clear to us that she wanted to jump! With her rhythmical, balanced canter and bold attitude, she is the ideal local hunter. Rebekka makes it easy to find the jumps and never says no to a distance. She does have a lead change, though it is slightly sticky. Rebekka has shown at all the big local venues, including Ludwig’s Corner, Harrisburg, and the Devon show grounds, without batting an eye. We love teaching lower level jump lessons on her, too; she takes a joke all day long to the jumps and will find the distance for you. Rebekka is a confident, brave, well-schooled mare who is a lot of fun to ride and has lots to teach her rider.
Noble Impression is a petite 21-year-old chestnut Thoroughbred gelding and one of SNF’s reliable dressage schoolmasters. In his prime, Noble competed successfully through second level and knows all the third level movements (though his flying changes are quite exuberant!) He is a true teacher: he is as patient as they come, but until you ask him correctly, it’s not going to happen! Noble is a regular competitor at the BLM Championships and even won the first level musical freestyle championship there a few years ago. He is a kind, gentle horse who is the ideal choice for any rider wanting to fine-tune their dressage skills.
Aragon might try to convince you he is not a gentle giant with his grumpy faces, but don’t let him fool you. This 20-year-old Thoroughbred Percheron cross is a total teddy bear and would never hurt a fly. He has evented through Novice level and competed through second level dressage with his owner but is currently enjoying his life as a lesson horse here at SNF. He is that rare mix of athletic and kind and steps up to the plate no matter what is asked of him. We are lucky to have such a reliable schoolmaster in the barn!
Rasta is one of our lovely large ladies: as a 16.1 hand Oldenburg, she is a big, thick girl. Rasta’s background is in the hunter arena, but she has recently proved to be quite the successful dressage competitor as well. In 2018, she had big wins in large, ultra-competitive divisions at both Lendon Gray’s Youth Dressage Festival and BLM Championships. Aside from her athletic talents, Rasta has another unique skill: her singing voice! She often hums in her stall, in cross ties, or under saddle. We are happy to have such a sweet, multitalented horse in the barn!
Spanky, whose show name is Flacon, doesn’t know he is only 15.1 hands (don’t tell him!); he thinks he’s the biggest horse in the barn. He also doesn’t know he’s an old man, born in 1998, (don’t tell him this either!). Spanky recently retired from his Grand Prix showing and is looking to teach a new rider the ropes. Spanky was imported from Denmark years ago, where he spent time in the jumper arena. When he arrived in the US, he spent some time in the hunter ring before finding his home in the dressage world. Since then, he has earned Anecia her silver medal, Melanie her bronze, silver, and gold medals, and Laura her bronze medal. He is a phenomenal little horse with a show record a mile long. If you feed Spanky a treat, he’ll lick your hand endlessly afterward!
Gizmo is the best little man we have around the farm these days. He is going straight to heaven. Gizmo loves kids and is happy to plop around all day with them on his back. He also loves to canter and is happy to help our instructors teach their students how to do so. You can take Giz anywhere with anyone and he is always a gentleman.
2013 Hanoverian Gelding “Player “ is a lovebug with personality plus! He took his Young Rider through 3rd level and even loves to play with his musical freestyle! We are lucky enough to have him as part of our dressage team and can’t wait to see him in the show ring with his new riders.
This Oldenburg mare is an eye catcher with her blonde mane and tail. She had been on the SNF Dressage payroll but she does enjoy jumping around a course and trail riding. She is a big girl with a big personality she prefers things to be her idea but when asked nicely she is happy to play along.
Warrior is a 2013 TB gelding. He has recently come to SNF with very little education but has proven to be Quick learner while being gentle and kind. He has been working on his dressage but he seems to also want to jump around in the sand box. A bright future for this one !
Ruby is nothing short of her name, a GEM! She is a 2003, warmblood, mare. She joined the SNF in 2020 and has quickly become a favorite among the riders and instructors. Ruby is truly a jack of all trades, she’s done dressage, XC, hunters, equitation, you name it. Before life, at SNF she was at Dickinson College being used in their IHSA program. Ruby is as easy going as they come and will do anything her rider asks of her. She can do a beginner lesson one day and then jump 3’ the next. When she’s not being ridden you will find her out in the field staring at her favorite pony Moon!
Full Court Pressure
Court is a 2007, gelding, and the most wonderful little thoroughbred you'll ever meet. He goes with the flow, is very kind, and is happy to take the more advanced riders or the newbies for a ride. He has become a favorite lesson horse at SNF because of his disposition and his willingness to work.
Moon is a 1998, Welsh, gelding, and a sassy little pony, but an absolute gem! He happens to look like an old pony SNF had named Soldier. That meant Moon had to join the crew! He was been a wonderful addition and a star in the hunter ring. Moon loves to jump around a course and is great at teaching the little ones how to ride. He may be small, but he has a large personality.
EZ came to Danielle as a resale project in 2018 but he quickly stole her heart. This guy truly fits his name, EASY, he has an incredibly sweet deposition and has all the qualities of a super star lesson horse. Although he is only 6 years old you would never guess it by his easy going ride. EZ is still young but is catching on quickly and learning fast how to be a lesson horse. When he’s not being ridden you’ll be sure to catch him playing with his buddies out in the field!
Lacey is a lovely lady who is sweet and willing to do anything you ask. She is loving her life as a lesson pony teaching kids to trot, canter, and go over poles. Lacey is wonderful to be around in the barn and on her back.
Others may be available for lease under special contract.
